Quilt Show 2016

 Quilting is My (he)ART

Our Quilt Show theme for 2016 is “Quilting Is My (he)ART” – and we have a logo to promote it!  Designed by RRQ member Andrew Love, the logo pictured here will be used for advertising our show and our Guild – and don’t you want a T-shirt with this on it?

Professionally printed on gray 100% cotton T-shirts (see size info below), shirts will cost $18.00 each, payable on receipt.  We require pre-orders to determine sizes, so plan to order yours at the March 7th Guild meeting or before.

If you cannot make the meeting, please email Kelly Pugh (see directory) as soon as possible with the number of T-shirts and size(s) you need.

NOTE:  The copyright symbol with Guild name and date shown in this online-only image will NOT appear on the front of the finished shirts.  However, our standard RRQ logo and our website information will be printed on the back of each T-shirt.

Our 2016 quilt show, "Quilting is My (he)ART", will challenge you to make a quilt with your own interpretation of the theme.  You will need to write a short story about how you used reds in your quilt.  The challenge will be judged the same as it has been in the past, but there will be an additional ribbon this year given by the committee for the quilt we think best meets the challenge.  The show will also include special exhibits, a silent auction, a vendor mall and, of course, quilts!  The show will be held Sept. 30 through Oct.  2 at Riverview Hall in Shreveport, LA (click for map) in conjunction with the Red River Revel Arts Festival.  Hours are Friday 10-6, Saturday 11-6 and Sunday 11-4.

Every quilter loves a good quilt show and what makes a good quilt show great is the dedication of the volunteers who put it together!  Red River Quilters produces an annual quilt show in conjunction with the Red River Revel Arts Festival.  There are lots of ways to participate:

·   Join the planning committee (meets monthly during the year)

·  Help with set-up/takedown the weekend of the show

·   Volunteer during the show (from “white gloving” to ticket sales to door greeters, there’s a place for your talents)

And most of all, enter your quilts!  All members are encouraged to submit their quilts.  Nervous about having your work judged by a professional quilt show judge?  Simply skip reading the critique sheet.  A quilt show is really like a huge “Show & Tell”.  Think of your quilt inspiring someone else to go home and start sewing.  What better compliment could there be?
