Shreveport Convention Center

For the third year, the Red River Quilters' Quilt Show will be held in conjunction with the Red River Revel. The Quilt Show will be during the opening weekend of the Red River Revel, at the Convention Center in downtown Shreveport. On Saturday and Sunday, enjoy the Quilt Show and the Red River Revel with one admission price! The Red River Revel is Shreveport's annual Festival of Art, Food, and Music, at the Festival Plaza downtown.

For easy parking on Saturday and Sunday, use one of the FREE SHUTTLE BUSES! Park at Pierre Bossier Mall for the closest drop off point to the Convention Center. Shuttles also run from Mall St. Vincent and Clyde Fant Parkway. Shuttles run every 30 minutes starting at 9:15 a.m. Or PARK FREE in the Hollywood Casino or Sam's Town Casino parking garages.

SPECIAL EXHIBITS - Plans have been made for several very special exhibits.

GUILD CHALLENGE - Guild Members have been challenged to create an entry that incorporates the quilt show's theme, "When Life Hands You Scraps . . . Make A Quilt!". This exhibit will include quilts, wall hangings, garments, and other quilted items. They may use any aspect of the theme. Entries must include at least 20 different fabrics.

QUILTQUEST QUILTS - See quilts using blocks created by area 4th-graders during last year's Red River Revel. Over 7,000 children, using fabric markers, each drew a picture onto a block of fabric, of something that they thought would make a sick child feel better. These art blocks are then made into quilts by members of the Red River Quilters guild, for children in hospitals and critical needs situations. QuiltQuest is back this year! School children will again create cheerful pictures, and the Red River Quilters guild will be assembling quilts during the Quilt Show!

DONATION QUILTS - The Guild's Donation Quilt, "Batik Kaleidoscope," represents the show's theme, "When Life Hands You Scraps . . . Make A Quilt!" "Batik Kaleidoscope" includes the colors of nature, ranging from pale taupe to the gray-blues of dusk, with sunsets' gold and rose blended in. The kaleidoscope block lends movement to the quilt. This quilt will fit anyone's decor, from traditional to modern.

GUILD CHALLENGE - Garments, wall hangings, large quilts - anything that incorporates the show's theme. See how Guild members interpret the analogy of scraps - in fabric and in life!
