WHAT IS THE RED RIVER QUILTERS QUILT SHOW?
Our annual quilt show is an opportunity to promote quilting to our community, which is part of our guild's purpose. For several years, our Quilt Show has been part of the Red River Revel in Shreveport, LA. The Revel is one of the largest arts festivals in the South and draws thousands of visitors over an 8-day span. The Red River Quilters Quilt Show is a 3-day event on the opening weekend of the Revel at Riverview Hall on Clyde Fant Parkway, across from the Barnwell Center on the Shreveport riverfront.
Our show displays quilted entries by guild members. We hire a judge to critique and award entries in the various categories. We feature special exhibits, local or national. We invite vendors, offer product demonstrations by vendors and technique demonstration by talented uilters.
The Small quilt auction has been a success. This auction takes many formats and will allow anyone interested in a small quilt the opportunity to bid whenever they happen to be at the Quilt Show and not limit it to a specific time/day. Winning bids will be announced Sunday evening and winners called Monday. To continue with the success of this event we need your contributions. Please consider making and donating a small quilt (any quilt smaller than 36' X 36") to be auctioned during this event. Each year our members work together to produce a Donation Quilt that is given away at the close of the show.
The show committee works most of the year to plan the show so that all goes smoothly. The show requires many volunteers each "working" at the show to hang all the quilts, greet visitors, sell Donation Quilt tickets, help children at the Children's Activity, sew baby quilts and otherwise assist in delivering a quality quilt exhibit to our friends, neighbors, relatives and visitors to Shreveport.
Our banquet and preview night is always a fun evening. Good food, good friends, hearing who the winners are and getting to see all the quilts before anyone else. What fun!

As a guild member you are already a quilting enthusiast or a quilter. Help us to let our communities know that quilting is an art that is alive and well. It is not just something that your grandmother did. Today's quilting takes many forms - traditional patterns to miniatures to art quilts in varied shapes and embellishments.
Your show committee has given the details a lot of thought. Come join us, work a few hours (or more!) to support the guild activity of promoting quilting! We have a lot of fun sharing our passion with others. We hope you will too!
