Meetings and Programs

The Red River Quilters meet on the first Monday of each month at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, 1915 Grover Place, Shreveport (click for map).  There is an afternoon meeting at 1:00 PM and an evening meeting at 6:00 PM.  Each meeting includes an educational program, guild-related announcements, a quick recap of “business” and Show & Tell, the unofficial best part.  Members share quilts or works-in-progress as well as the stories behind them.

In July and December this format is put aside as members from both the day and night meetings share an evening potluck dinner.  July’s social includes a garage sale (items are donated by members) and both a live and silent auction.  All proceeds from this evening benefit our service projects.   December’s social is an opportunity for members to share seasonal cheer.  Socials usually begin at 6:00 PM, although the fun normally starts earlier with visiting and/or shopping, depending on the month.

Monthly Meetings:

March 4 - Our March program will showcase Linda McCullough demonstrating how to make the “Burrito Pillowcase” or “Roll-up Pillowcase.” If you haven’t made one of these, you will certainly want to after you see how simple and quick they are. She will also be sharing how she has distributed over 300 of these into the community and how great the need is for more. Make your plans to join us and we will see you in March...Bring pre-cut fabric and BEFORE OR AFTER THE MEETING Linda will be happy to help you assemble a pillowcase to take home and complete. PRECUT: 3 inches for strip, 9 inches for band and 27 inches for body by WOF (width of fabric)
